What?? Does that mean I can sell my USEd 2.4 set for a mere $7,000 USD?!
or is that 10,000 copies for $10,000???

I'd be willing to let my entire collection (2.1 and up) go for $10000 and I have two copies of 2.4 in the mix... thats crazy....

Going to have to agree, the prices seem a little...expensive?

Holy Shite!
Not to be scrooge.. but.. nothing the OpenBSD developers write, or have written, is worth $10,000.
$50? Yes.
$100? Maybe.
$1000? When drunk.
$10,000? Not in your miserable lifetime.
This is disappointing, the developers should be ashamed of themselves.

Thanks for valuing our time so highly!

You are absolutely right! I will cry myself to sleep beside supermodels on our huge piles of money tonight.

WTF? Ashamed?
They certainly deserve it! How many nights are spent in this great OS...for beer, coffe and nicotine they deserve it, not to mention huge amount of profesional work...
I would certainly buy(support developers) that way if i could. This is not just some CD...i hope you manage to process and understand that.

What the OpenBSD developers wrote and are writing is worth millions of dollars.
The physical CD itself is probably not worth more than $100.

Actually, the physical CD itself would be closer to $1. Since it is an old version, it is probably worth less than that IF you were wanting to use OpenBSD on a new machine. The old CDs are NOT sold to be used. I would be surprised to find anyone associated with the project who would suggest to do a new install of anything other than the currently supported versions (or current).
Think of this as a fund raiser. The only reason why someone would buy this old copy would be because they are a collector who wants to finish off their set or they want to support the project.
There are also those in a corporate position who would find it easy to put through a $10000.00 purchase but are completely prevented from making a donation of any size because of policy. This also gives those corporate "supporters" a way to assist the project without having to deal with cases of the current release.
Perhaps it might be a long while before someone buys this copy of 2.4. It isn't priced for a quick sale and I don't think that Austin is worried about the storage space.

you are such a moron. more than 2 million dollars has been spent on openbsd development, possibly much more. this is chump change.

$10,000 / $125/hour = 80 hours. Around here that's two weeks of
full time work. Unless you live in a cave...

Ashamed? Of what may I ask?

I have been buying CDs since 2.3, and getting my boss to buy more each release. It is the only way to get my university to donate to OpenBSD, so we maximize our $ by buying 16-18, even though it costs less to buy 20 with the discount.
Austin has been an unsung hero of the project, he has worked with me over damaged/missing shipments, irritating accountant requests and more.
Gotta love OpenBSD and the people! I wouldn't be without it for many functions at work.
