EuroBSDcon 2008 - registrations are open

Contributed by johan on from the too-little-too-late dept.

Wim Vandeputte (wvdputte@) writes to tell us that EuroBSDcon registration is open.

For the OpenBSD crowd there are a few highlights worth mentioning:

  • Matthieu Herrb:
Input handling in wscons and X.Org

  • Edd Barrett:
Modern Typesetting on BSD (LaTeX on OpenBSD ;-)

  • Michael Dexter:
Zen and the Art of Multiplicity Maintenance: An applied survey of BSD-licensed multiplicity strategies from chroot to mult

  • Constantine A. Murenin:
    OpenBSD Hardware Sensors Framework

  • Tutorial day: (full day)
    Peter N. M. Hansteen:
Building the Network You Need with PF

As usual some of the developers will attend, among whom are wim@, matthieu@ and cnst@.

EuroFreeBSDcon it looks like. The organizers, current and past, have done their best to make these event almost exclusive to FreeBSD, so I see absolutely no reason why any OpenBSD users can expect to find anything of value there.

They had a choice to be pluralist. They chose to go the other way. Don't blame me, the messenger. It is true. Anyone looking at their list of organizers and the talks given at this event, and the previous two events can see it is true. They've simply padded a few other speakers in, once in a while, so that is not as apparent.

Not to mention that it is also damn expensive for a two days event ...

It would be awesome if OpenBSD users that plan to go there changed their mind and sent that money to the OpenBSD foundation instead ;)

There you go again, complaining like a little a girl. Whine, whine, whine. Why don't you put up or shut up?

Ya know, submitting papers helps when you're interested in giving a talk. Might want to keep that in mind for the future.
