Call For Donations - PCIe machine needed for driver development

Contributed by johan on from the quid-pro-quo dept.

Theo de Raadt (deraadt@) sent out a request to misc asking users for donations of a PCIe capable system for developer Brad Smith (brad@).

Update (Fri Jul 11 2008, 08:39:31 CEST): Since there has been some requests for that, we are publishing Brad's paypal address. This way you can donate small amounts as well. Please keep in mind that Brad is the principal maintainer for many of the ethernet drivers, so if you care about having well working network drivers in the future, here's where you can really make a difference. Please help chip in you too, the paypal address is: brad@comstyle.com

Read on for Theo's mail...

Brad in Toronto needs a PCI-e system (he prefers a desktop, i386 or
amd64) as soon as possible for some driver development he's doing.

If anyone can get him one soon, please drop him a note.

Thanks.

In an earlier commit to want.html Brad outlined in some detail what he needs...

Log message:
I could really use two i386 systems with at least one PCIe 4x or 8x
slot each to test some network gear. They do not have to be anything
special and preferably desktops systems.

What's needed, a PayPal donation? Hardware?

Can you be more specific please?

Could we get an update on current progress? The goal amount hasn't been reached yet? How far away is it?

A bit late, but I also made a small donation. I hope others join the fun so Brad can get his machines and work his magic ;)

    Thanks Brad !

Can you be a bit more specific? The names above were the only ones listed in the PayPal account activity.

Ah. I'm new to this PayPal thing. I went looking around and did find your transfer. When I clicked on All account activity it still did not show your entry, but if I click on Payments received it does. This is in my opinion a little strange.

Anyway, it definitely was not my intention to leave any names out. I just did not see them where I would have expected them to be when I was copying and pasting the names into the post. It turns out I left out the following names and they should be mentioned as well..

Edvinas Juozaitis, Rafael Sadowski, Stephan Rickauer

            Thank you.
