Call for OpenOffice.Org testing!

Contributed by robert on from the dept.

I would like to ask everyone who uses OpenOffice.Org to test the new 2.2m8 packages. Version 2.2 is going to be released on the 27th of February and I plan to include this version in OpenBSD 4.1. Their tree has been frozen since January, so the update is safe; however, I still need people to test it. The packages can be fetched from the following locations:

i386 packages: mirror1 mirror2
amd64 packages: mirror1 mirror2

If you'd also like to build the port yourself, the diff is available at http://humppa.hu/ooo/oo_2.2m8.diff.

Please send all the test reports to robert@openbsd.org (even if you do not have see problem).

Thank you!

Just to avoid misunderstanding, this package is for OpenBSD-current and the lastest snapshot?

Wow, that diff is insanely large. Thank you, gentlemen, for the obviously huge amount of hard work that you have put into this!

I just installed the package from the mirror and it does not seem to work with java.
I have 3 processes spawned but nothing appears on the screen:

    n 15977 91.5 0.2 800 3128 p1 R+ 10:29AM 41:02.93 /usr/local/jre-1.5.0/bin/java -classpath /usr/local/openoffice/program JREProperties
    n 30825 0.0 0.0 636 472 p1 I+ 10:29AM 0:00.01 /bin/sh /usr/local/openoffice/program/soffice
    n 22959 0.0 0.2 1740 3652 p1 S+ 10:29AM 0:00.06 /usr/local/openoffice/program/javaldx

As you can see, I lauched it quite a while ago without any success.

If I remove openoffice-java-2.2.0m8, it works quite well and is incredibly faster than v2.1.

can you tell me your settings and what do you exactly want to do?
have you tried with a clean ~/.openoffice.org2 dir?

I have a daily snapshot of OpenBSD-current. I removed the old OOo2.1, then installed the 2.2 with java from the mirror. I tried to run the command "soffice" from the command line. With java it spawned 3 processed and never did anything except wasting CPU cycles. Without openoffice-java-2.2.0m8 it worked great.
        I didn' try with a clean ~/.openoffice.org2

Could you drop me (kili at openbsd.org) some sample document that uses java stuff?

I just built the latest port of the jdk (1.5.0-p28) and it works fine now. I didn't have to clean out my ~/.openoffice.org2 directory.
