OpenBSD Europe opens IBAN bank account for easier donation handling

Contributed by wvdputte on from the donations dept.

After feedback from Europe, more specificly from people who don't have a credit card or prefer not to use it for online transactions, we've now opened a new account dedicated to donations so people can wire in their contributions without having to go through the normal web ordering form.

The short details are as follows:

  • IBAN BE93 7370 1774 3767
  • BIC KREDBEBB
As correspondent fill in: name: KD85.com bvba, address: Oostveld Kouter 13, ZIP: 9920, City: Lovendegem, Country: Belgium

Update: more press coverage in OpenBSD founder makes funding plea (Ingrid Marson, ZDNet)

As a comment, put the name you want to see listed on donations.html. For full background info, please read the instructions for IBAN transfers

(Those who need an invoice for their company are still required to go through our regular order.eu page.)

For all interested in this, sending 50$ from Romania to Belgium via Western Uninon costs 13$. A nice day to all of you out there

Then get 10+ people together and send 10x the amount in one sweep.

Unfortunatly, the IBAN transfer system only has the benefit for those who are within the Euro zone.

You did read the background info at http://www.openbsd.org/bank-donation.html, right? ;-)

In short, we can make country to country bank transfers without additional costs.

You are not in the Euro zone

Yeah I tried transferring money from the US to an account in europe recently and it cost a small fortune - the banks here are so backwards.

Actually I say that, but I remember having nothing but a mess around trying to send Wim money a while back from a certain high street bank in the UK. I got the money to Wim in the end, but no thanks to the bank.

You were using the SWIFT system? It's all a big ripoff.... fees up to EUR 30 or EUR 50 for a transaction... it's just not realistic

tipanet is a less expensive way to transfer to Belgium but fewer UK banks offer it (notably Smile/coop).

Ahh good news. Thanks for setting it up Wim, transferring funds to Theo thru Fortis was a pain in the ass.
