OnLamp: Intro to VPNs and IPSec

Contributed by jose on from the enhanced-privacy dept.

Dru is back with more cryptosystems on BSD. This time around it's VPNs and IPSec Demystified . This column doesn't cover any configuration information (which is a bit of a disappointment) but it does cover the fundamentals of IPSec. Hopefully this can be coupled to a good description of ISAKMPD for people to ease them into it.

Dru suggests in this article that she'll configure a VPN with IPSEC on a FreeBSD machine next time, so this article was more of a preface than anything else.
