The OpenBSD Foundation Announces New Silver Donor: Yandex

Contributed by pitrh on from the it's in you to give dept.

The OpenBSD Foundation's 2015 fundraising campaign is picking up steam. The Foundation's directors wrote in to announce yet another Silver-class donor:

The OpenBSD Foundation is happy to announce that the latest Silver level donation, from Yandex LLC, our 4th Silver level donor in 2015, has pushed the total donations received in 2015 past our basic goal of $200,000.

This does not bring our 2015 fund raising campaign to a close!

We are very happy that donations so far are almost evenly split between large corporate donations and the many small donations from individual members of our community. We especially want to thank those community members who have made an ongoing monthly commitment. These monthly commitments are the backbone of our long term planning and ability to enter into infrastructure contracts for the projects.

With the basic goal achieved we can breathe a bit easier in the knowledge that the OpenBSD Foundation will be able to meet the anticipated financial needs of OpenBSD and related projects for another year.

But the more donations we receive the more resources we can provide the projects and the more amazing things they will be able to accomplish. So please keep those donations coming!

Donations to the Foundation can be made on our Donations Page at

We can be contacted regarding corporate sponsorship at

Cheers! The guys at yandex are very supportive of the project in general. I'm happy to see them in the spotlight.

    Many thanks to Yandex!

I could not help but note that a new ''class'' of contributors appeared on the Foundation web site, named Iridium. Does that mean we can expect even more excellent news in the near future? ;-)

And, to all the trolls out there: please don't bother. We have heard it all before.

Still waiting on that donation from Red Hat, though...

Perhaps it's time to be really optimistic and have an "Inkjet Printer Ink" level of sponsorship ...

Congratulations, again! Please consider giving Bob some pocket change so he doesn't have to cook to get it any more :-)

I'm afraid Bob may have an arrangement with his wife, and that changing that part might lead to issues.
