Slackathon 2008

Contributed by jason on from the apor-och-köttbullar dept.

Janne Johansson (jj@) writes in to tell us about the swedish fundraiser, Slackathon 2008, that is taking place at Stockholm University on the September 13, 2008. More details after the jump...

Welcome to this years Slackathon, a bit later than usual but with the same enthusiasm as previous years.

As the last time around, there will be no entrance fee and all profits made from the cafeteria and mechandise stand will be donated directly to OpenBSD/OpenSSH. For those of you who want to stay late we will be serving dinner free of charge to all who have announced beforehand that they are coming.

You can announce you're attending either directly to Janne Johansson or to the slackathon mailing list. Please do not forget to announce your attendance or otherwise we will not be able to supply enough food. Other than that, notice about your attendance is not necessary, although we do apreciate "I will be there!" mails very much.

According to their website, a number of OpenBSD developers have already committed to attending. This is a great opportunity to hang out with the hackers behind the scenes and have some fun, all while generating needed resources for a couple of our favorite open-source projects.

No, it is port 2008 for this years slackathon.
I used to have 2006/, 2007/ and so on, but I figured using the year for the port would be.. neater.

And it surely makes it easy to traverse company firewalls. Of course,
any port can be HTTP, not only 80...

Let mail (and spam) come in on port 666 instead of the agreed upon port
        0x19.

If anyone actually manages to get a problem with their company firewalls,
          I'll consider putting up a proxy/redirect.

As will I. I've been dying to attend to slackathon. Something allways came up. Hopefully I will be there this year though.
