Serge Basterot lets us know:
The 9th Libre Software Meeting [website currently points to last year's event] will take place in Mont-de-Marsan, France, from July 1st to 5th. It has become one of the most significant events about Free Software in France, gathering developers, entrepreneurs, hackers, teachers, professors, etc. from different countries and continents. The organizers ask now for submission of papers. Send an email to one of the following addresses: nicolas at ldd.fr or redfox at redfoxcenter.org, with the subject and few lines about the talk and/or workshop you want to run. It must be in French or English.
In past years, there is always a booth run by Wim and his usual slaves but there haven't been many talks about OpenBSD and its tools (OpenBGPd, OpenNTPd, relayd, Pf, W^X etc.). So you know what to do... :)
The website for this year's event is still under construction, but the organizers hope to get OpenBSD-related submissions while they work on the site.

while this is a great event that I can highly recommend, even for non-french speakers, it's also a huge event, they have so many parallel tracks and talk that I think it's quite a logistical challenge to have all talks recorded.
But on the bright side, for FOSDEM in Brussels (23/24 Feb), there is an OpenBSD devroom and we are going to try to record for the first time some of the talks and see if we can get them online.
But attending in real life is of course still recommended!

I agree, there's nothing like being able to attend in real life in which I would love to, but I'm stuck way over here in Montreal, so commuting there by raft or inner tube would mean that by the time I get there, I'm either dead washed a shore or trying to swim the remainder because I have an air leak on my ride... ;-(
Wish I could help some how video record such an event as making it available and archivable would be nice; especially for the others already on their rafts with their volley ball - 'Wilson...!'
I really hope to see something like this on video, I'm exhausted from 'pumping my ride', pun intended. ;-)

For 2007 there is a video for each talk (avi files are available on the site). As Wim said it's difficult to stream the talks while 5 or 6 are given at the same time :)
But we will think about it, maybe we'll find a solution... :)
