Donations needed to cover shipping costs of hardware to developer in .br

Contributed by grey on from the pedro@ needs better hardware, desperately dept.

Jolan Luff indicates that he is still looking for donations to help cover the shipping costs of hardware he hopes to ship to one of OpenBSD's developers in Brazil. You can read the details of the situation, as well as how to help donate funds to him in this message.

This is a simple opportunity to help out, and a rare occasion where the hardware to be donated has already been provided. Even small amounts could go a long way if enough people chip in.

As Pedro friend I should note here in Brazil is quite difficult to find hardware != from Intel-like affordable, so if you care about subsystems which our fellow seems to commit patches take this message in consideration.
Two times we tried to get Ultra Sparc machines, one when concurrency was way better the salesman laughted to Pedro in the phone and other the prices are just around my last full time month salary.

Do you know that the 'Receita Federal' will tax you with about 60% (or more) of the estimated value? That might be very expensive for e.g. a SparcStation 20!

Not to pat my own back, but I have donated a small amount for this purpose. You should too. It makes you feel good. :-)

I donated as soon as I read the email. Definitely a great feeling. :)

Of course, now my 3.6 pre-order will have to wait a few days. :P

I notice you're sending him some Sparc gear. I have some sparc stuff I'm willing to donate: 2 SM61 60mhz SuperSparc CPUs 2 SM81 85mhz SuperSparc-II CPUs 1 Wide-SCSI (isp) sbus card 1 4MB VSIMM for sparcstation 20 A new, unused Sparc 10/20 Boot PROM version 2.25R A fast-scsi/10MB ethernet (esp/le) combo sbus card Is any of this stuff useful to anyone on the OpenBSD team? I'd be willing pay for shipping to anywhere, even Brazil as long as the cost is not too ridiculous.

Hopefully the formatting will be better this time...
