First Release of LibreSSL Portable Available

Contributed by tbert on from the doesn't-run-on-windows-3.1 dept.

Bob Beck (beck@) announced the release of LibreSSL-portable:

The first release of LibreSSL portable has been released. LibreSSL
can be found in the LibreSSL directory of your favorite OpenBSD mirror.

http://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/LibreSSL has it, and other mirrors
will soon.

libressl-2.0.0.tar.gz has been tested to build on various versions of
Linux, Solaris, Mac OSX, and FreeBSD.

This is intended as an initial release to allow the community to start
using and providing feedback. We will be adding support for
other platforms as time and resources permit.

As always, donations (http://www.openbsdfoundation.org/donations.html)
are appreciated to assist in our efforts.

Enjoy,

-Bob

Replying to my own comments: how do we report issues compiling LibreSSL?

Would not it go to bugs@openbsd.org, like usual?

I think a Puffy Luchadore with a mask of hearts would be more hip and trendy than a Che.

But good to see the baby project is starting to get where more people can test it. I wonder how many things that go torn out will need to be replaced for minor fringe cases on the other platforms.

I think you misunderstand the pun with "libre"

The Libre works in multiple ways. But a lucha libre is one of the many ways the pun could work.

LibReSSL as in remaking the SSL library also works.

And of course the freedom concept is there.

Che is not exactly a universally loved persona, quasi-mythic as he has become, he is still viewed by some as a revolutionary and murderer and not a freedom fighter.

Plus, as I said, a luchadore looks cuter.

So, I put in the two cents.

          Yup. And a homophobe.

And an excellent 2 cents they are :-)

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucha_Libre

Puffy would of course be the one sticking to open standards, offering freedom and be a 'técnicos' type, it's perfect :-)
