AsiaBSDCon 2013 wrap-up

Contributed by phessler on from the bento-box-fugu dept.

AsiaBSDCon 2013 wrapped up on Sunday, and many of the attendees are traveling back to their home countries or extending their time with a holiday in the beautiful country of Japan.

There was a substantial OpenBSD presence at the conference, with 5 talks (including all talks in room 'B' on Sunday).

  • Reyk Floeter (reyk@) gave two talks: on OpenIKED, and on relayd.
  • Eric Faurot (eric@) gave a talk on "OpenSMTPD: We deliver!"
  • Peter Hessler (phessler@) gave a talk on "Using BGP for Realtime import and export of OpenBSD SPAMD entries".
  • Henning Brauer (henning@) gave a talk on "the surprising complexity of checksums in TCP/IP".

The slides will be uploaded in the next few days. The talks were recorded, and we will let you know when they are available.

In addition to the OpenBSD talks, there were many FreeBSD and NetBSD talks, as well as more sysadmin-style talks. Personally, I found the talks to be informative and interesting. One of my favorite parts of these conferences is the technical/social discussions with other attendees, and discussing the various advantages/disadvantages of ideas.

Undeadly is already looking forward to attending AsiaBSDCon 2014, and we hope you will join us.
