[c2k8]: OpenBSD -current Supports Video on AMD Geode LX CPUs

Contributed by johan on from the it's-a-swiss-thing dept.

Marc Balmer (mbalmer@) just sent us news about X11 on embedded AMD Geode LX boards such as the Alix that he has committed support for:
AMD Geode LX CPUs are available with a built-in graphics processor. Xenocara in OpenBSD -current now supports this graphics processor with the video modes the VESA BIOS reports to X.

That means that you can run X on devices like the Alix 3c3 board (http://www.pcengines.ch/alix3c3.htm) and use it either standalone or as a small X-Terminal.

Work is going on to see if we can enable the native video-amd driver in Xenocara, but this needs kernel support and will probably still take some time until it works on OpenBSD.

This may also mean X works on the fit-PC, though I no longer have access to the hardware to test.

I still have one. I'll test when I get a chance.
