David Gwynne (dlg@) has been working hard to make mpi(4) a full replacement for mpt(4). He recently committed support for firmware uploading, which was the final piece that mpi did not support. As of this commit, mpi now does everything that mpt did, and more. mpi brings support for more hardware (such as SAS and FibreChannel controllers), as well as much better support for RAID volumes.
David would like to receive feedback from users that have mpi hardware, especially SAS and FC controllers. You should do whatever you can to stress your system. sysutils/iogen
is a great tool for this job.

Yeah, and this hardware has a protocol between the driver and the hardware which is described as the "Message Passing Interface", hence its name. Even if it was called "Monkey Purple Ipecac" i dont see how a pre-existing acronym is going to stop me from using it again. Should we rename this and the it, isp, ssh, ohci, sp, and any other drivers which happen to share an acronym with something else?

If we can't stop the driver, we can stop YOU!
dlg is already taken. ;)

Well.. then I suppose there wont be any new "young developers" anymore until we found a new word for this...

Perhaps "gender" is better than "sex" when searching, but, of course, nothing found on that site.

having gender isn't likely to result in new developers.

Damn! I really thought ``mpi'' stood for ``makes people irritable''...

Perhaps. Don't forget about SPI though. You think it stands for "SCSI Parallel Interface" but it really represents "Sends People Insane".

Haven't you heard?
grep Whiners /usr/src/usr.bin/mg/theo.c
"Whiners. They scale really well.",

Oh, okay, well we'll just throw all this great new code away then.

I can only think of two reasons why this would be. One, noones testing it, or two, the driver is perfect. I'm going to assume it's the latter, which is good, cos it means I'm awesome and I get to inflate my ego even further :D :D Also, it means there are no bugs that are going to bite people in the next release.

That said, I'm not testing due to lack of hardware.
